What is PageRank?

When it comes to SEO, there is necessarily a time when we will hear about PageRank. But do you know what lies behind that word really?

Definition of PageRank

as the name suggests, the PageRank is a kind of ranking. Indeed, the suffix "Rank" ranking comes from the term in English, which means ranking. PageRank is the ranking of a web page.
Specifically, it is a score for each page of your blog by Google. PageRank this allows it to classify the different result pages.

On what basis the PageRank?
The PageRank of a page or a blog will depend on the number of links pointing to it. One page is cited, the more Google will consider that we can give him credit, the more it will increase its PageRank.
The other element to calculate the PageRank of a page is ... PageRank of the pages pointing to it! Yes, if a link to your blog from one page to go a high PageRank (and credit in the eyes of Google), your PageRank will be even higher.

Of course, all this is not played on a link, it takes volume, but you understand the basic principle of PageRank.

Importance to the ranking of your blog

Now you know that historically the relationship had a major importance in the classification results made by Google (and other search engines as well).
Over time, other parameters of classification are taken into account (the algorithms of various search engines constantly evolving). The freshness of the results, for example, is important, the number of clicks the site from the results pages of Google and therefore its ability to attract Internet users, and retain them (time spent on the results page) will be also taken into account.
But the engines will now further, and give more importance to social media. Thus, there is fairly strong relationship between Google and Twitter. If your articles appear on Twitter and are taken by others, there is a good chance that eventually it impacts your SEO.

PageRank is no longer the sole criterion for evaluation and ranking of results by Google. It is important to keep trying to get links from external sites, especially the links 'quality', ie from sites with good PageRank. The reasons are:

they continue to be considered by the search engines to determine the importance of a page;
they bring you traffic, and contribute to your reputation.

How to improve your PageRank?

The question should rather be "How to get links from external sites?” .This topic is a daily challenge for those wishing to truly optimize SEO.

A first axis optimization is to follow other blogs regularly on topics similar to yours and comment regularly (do not leave comments without interest that could affect your image). When you leave a comment on a blog, you are asked in effect to provide the address of your own blog, creating a link to it.
You can also comment on sites with larger audience, such as newspapers and magazines or magazines with a large audience.

Another action you can easily set up is to update your profiles on various social networks on which you are present.

As the size of your audience will increase, more will be among your readers who might naturally include your blog or your articles, without you having to act. You will get links that you will be asked only effort than writing articles for your blog.

A final possibility is to offer to other bloggers a link exchange, to be placed in the sidebar for example, a list of bloggers you enjoy.
If you are able to form a small community of readers / bloggers faithful and talk regularly with each other, then you will increase your reputation and your easy classification, both in the results of search engines, another important source of traffic.
Good Luck!!!
